Setting up the Job Description in an Opportunity Advert

Description:

How to think about creating a job description when creating opportunity adverts on the Partner Network

Tips to creating a great job description

  • Remember that the audience of the job description is a young work seeker
  • The job description needs to be interesting and exciting
  • Enough detail to explain the job opportunity, but not too much that it's boring and too technical
  • You should use language that is going to 'sell' the opportunity
  • Use your company's brand to entice work seeker's to apply
  • Do not just copy and paste a job description you have used for internal purposes - think about the audience and how it might be interpreted by a young work seeker using SAYouth.mobi
  • Use sub-headings to break up various parts of the job description (you can also make these bold, to help make it easier on the eye)
  • Use bullet points, so that it's easy to read
  • Do not make it too long!

What questions does the Job Description need to answer:

you can use these as sub-headings to help you create your job description

  1. What is this opportunity about?
  2. Where is the opportunity based?
  3. What kind of skills/ experience/ attitudes are you looking for?
  4. What is the recruitment process?
  5. What remuneration can be expected? (It's useful to note that we see higher application numbers when salary is disclosed)
  6. How long is the opportunity for?

NOTE: Remember to explain a bit about your organisation - so that the work seeker's know who they are applying to work with!
