Health insurance in Germany
In Germany there are two types of health insurances: statutory/public or private heath insurance.
If you are eligible for a private health insurer, documents must be uploaded in BambooHR manually (please keep in mind: You will receive every year - November/December - new documents from the insurance company which have to be uploaded in BambooHR as soon as you receive them).
If you are insured by a public health insurer, please update your bamboo profile - no certificate needed.
You can choose from a variety of companies for your health insurance. air up collaborates with TK and BARMER, but you are free to choose any company. Please ask for a certificate for your employer (important for payroll) and upload it on BambooHR. The section social insurance in the personal questionnaire relates to your health insurance company.
If you choose to sign up with TK, you can just write an e-mail to Anika (anika.taeumer-kloninger@tk.de) and inform her that you are working at air up and that you want to be registered with them.
The same applies for the BARMER: Dieter (dieter.weber@barmer.de) will be happy to assist you if you decide to choose BARMER as your health insurance.
Anika and Dieter will support you with everything so that your health insurance registration runs smoothly. This service is included in our cooperation with the TK and BARMER and aims to provide full support in English for internationals in Germany.
With the confirmation of your health insurance, you receive your health insurance number AND your social security number (SIN). It has this format: 12 123456 A 123 (e.g.) --> It contains your birth date and the first letter of your last name (make sure to submit the correct number in BambooHR and the personal data document).
