How to Recover Offline HDB2 Files
Any unexpected occurrence that prevents the Canary Historian machine from running, such as a power outage or uncontrolled shutdown, can cause an HDB2 file to go offline. The data within an offline HDB2 file cannot be viewed or used by any other applications until its brought back online.
Open the Canary Admin application. Select the 'Historian' Tile.
Select a DataSet that has offline HDB files within.
Offline HDB2 files are indicated by the solid gray coloration. Offline HDB2 files must be brought back online one at a time. Select one offline HDB2 file.
Select the
drop down menu towards the left side of the screen. Select 'RECOVER'.
A pop-up window appears, indicating that the file recovery was successful. If the file recovery was not successful, contact 814-793-3770.
Select 'PUT ONLINE'. A light gray dot now appears in the top left hand corner of the HDB2 file.
Select 'VALIDATE'. This process may take several minutes to complete. The validation process checks the file for corrupted data. If the validation process fails, the Canary team has tools to dissect HDB2 files that customers do not have access to.
The file is now online. The tag values within this file are now accessible.
