Changing Homerooms for Students in PowerSchool

NOTE: CHANGING STUDENT VALUES CAN CAUSE ISSUES IF YOU AREN'T CAREFUL. MAKE SURE YOU FOLLOW THE GUIDE CLOSELY, AS THERE MAY NOT BE A WAY TO FIX AN ERROR IF YOU CHANGE THE WRONG FIELD.

There's a few methods to change the home_room value for a student in PowerSchool, but here's one that should be relatively quick and painless. It does require that your students are already loaded into their appropriate Homeroom Class Sections, but you could also manually select the students yourself, and then start at Step 3.

Step 1:

Go to School -> Sections and find the Homeroom section that you want to change/set the home_room field for. Click on the number under "enrollment" for that section.

Step 2:

On the page that opens, make sure you are seeing the students you expect to see, make sure "Select All" near the middle of the page is checked, and then hit "Make Current Student Selection" at the bottom of the page to make all those students your selection in PowerSchool.

Step 3:

Go back to your start page, and make sure the same students are showing under "Current Student Selection". Then, click the small arrow at the bottom of the frame, and scroll down to "Functions" -> "Student Field Value". Click "Student Field Value".

Step 4:

In the window that opens, type "home_room" into "Field to Change", and then type in the new home room value you want to set for the students in "New Field Value". Hit Submit at the bottom once that's done.

Step 5:

Confirm that everything on this page looks right. You should see the list of student names on the left, their current home_room values in the middle, and the value you want to set on the right. Once you've checked that's correct, hit "Submit" at the bottom.
