Creating a New Lead in NetSuite

Purpose & Scope:

These are the instructions on how to properly enter a new lead into NetSuite. It is very important to input every required field listed below. Even if you do not have a need for some of the required information, other departments (marketing, engineering, accounting, etc.) may need the information when the lead is turned into a prospect or a customer.

Procedures:

  1. Go to your NetSuite home page and hover over the Leads tab at the top of the page. Then drop the cursor down to Relationships, still hovering without clicking. Hover the cursor to the right over Leads, and then click on New.

  2. Fill in all of the required fields:
    1. COMPANY NAME
    2. LEAD STATUS - Use either LEAD-Nurture or LEAD-Marketing. Refer to Customer & Opportunity Statuses for reference.

    3. IMAGE - Pull the company's logo from email signature, Google, or direct website. All images must be either PNG or JPEG. Save to a convenient place.
      1. Back in NetSuite, hover the cursor over the image tab, then click on the + button.

      3. A new window will open. Press the Choose File button to add the previously saved image. FILE NAME is not required, but you can name the file "[Company] Logo"

    4. VERTICAL MARKET CATEGORY - What type of business is this company?
    5. LEAD SOURCE - Where did this lead come from?

    6. EMAIL - Enter contact's email
    7. PHONE - Enter contact's phone number

  3. There are 3 other fields that are not required to create a brand new lead, but they are greatly preferred if you have access to the information:
    1. INDUSTRY - What industry best describes the company?
    2. WEB ADDRESS - Company website
    3. ADDRESS - To fill in the physical address of a company, go to the bottom of your NetSuite page and click on Address.

      2. Click on the pencil icon under the word EDIT at the right of the page. A new window will open. Fill in the address information and click on OK.

  4. Click on one of the two Save buttons located at either the top left or bottom left of the page.

Congratulations! You just created a brand new lead. Thanks for filling in all of the required fields!
