Release a new VOD

If you want to release new content in your service you will need to upload a media file and prepare the metadata in the Storage & Transcoding section of the Magine Pro Console.

Add a new file

  1. Click on "Add source" in the upper right corner to upload your video and subtitle files. Screenshot 2021-08-26 at 13.57.32.png

  2. After clicking on upload you will see that the file was added to your Storage and the probe is checking if it matches our specifications.Screenshot 2021-08-26 at 14.23.21.png

Initiate Transcoding

  1. When your file is ready click on the Transcode button to add the metadata file and to initiate the transcoding. If the status is showing flagged or failed you can review your files by clicking on "Review". You can find detailed guidelines here.

  2. In the next step, you can review the files and decide to add or remove files to the transcoding request. Make sure that all subtitle files are included. If you want to add subtitles after the video file was transcoded you will need to upload the files together with the video file and re-transcode them.

  3. Step 2 gives you then an overview of which files are included in the transcoding request.

Add a metadata file

  1. In the last step you can decide which metadata file you want to connect with the video file:

    1. Choose an existing file

    2. Create a new file through the console

    3. Create a new file based on a JSON file

  2. If you select "Create a new metadata asset" you will need to add a title and decide the kind of content. You can choose between movie, episode, show, program and trailer. Then click on "Create".

  3. The transcoding will start and you can follow the progress in the "Task monitor" tab. The transcoding of a media file happens in real-time. If your media file has a length of 1h, it will take 1h to transcode the file.
You can continue working on the metadata file by clicking on the "Media & Metadata" button.

  4. When the transcoding is done the file will move to the "History" section

Note: If you transcode a video file without subtitle files and you want to add them later you will need to re-transcode the subtitle files together with the video file.

Publish the new content

For your new content to show up in the service you need to include it in a collection. This can be done by

  • adding a "Label" to the metadata asset that matches collections based on that label

  • manually add the metadata asset in a collection

  • have a collection that matches all content

Read more about how to create collections here.
