Red Flags
🚩 The email address and sender looks like a New School community member, but they are not listed in the faculty or staff directory and they do not use their name when signing the email. When an email looks suspicious, you can always verify if the sender is an active faculty or staff member by searching their name in the university directory.
🚩 The message creates a false sense of urgency by stating there are limited opportunities and to act fast. This is an effort to trick students into replying without considering the legitimacy of the message.
🚩 The message requests a reply via text. New School representatives including staff members and faculty members will never request a reply via text. New School procedures require the use of New School email addresses for all business correspondence.
