Laboratory OBC (Onboard Controls) Test Verification Process

As of GoRev 2022.08.22, GoRev supports onboard controls verification configurable at a test level. This guide will explain the configuration and use of this system.

Configuring OBC Verification Requirement on Tests

Navigate to Administration --> Configuration --> Laboratory --> Edit Tests and double click on the test you would like to enable OBC verification on. For this example, we will be working with a Strep A cartridge based test. You will need to refer to the documentation from the manufacturer of your test. For our example below we are using a BinaxNOW Strep A test.

Enter the verbiage into the OBC Instructions pane and toggle the Required box to on as shown below. Then click Save toward the bottom right.

Entering Test Results and Verifying OBC

Once OBC is set to required on a test any time a result is entered for the test on any specimen the user will be prompted with the verbiage you have configured.

The user has three choices:

Yes = Onboard controls have been verified and the user confirmation will be timestamped and logged

No = Onboard controls have failed. This user action will be timestamped and logged. The user will be presented with the below notification at which point the user can re-run the test, re-enter the results, and re-evaluate the onboard controls.

Cancel = The user is not ready to enter results. No action is timestamped or logged.

Accessing Onboard Control Log History

OBC actions are logged and can be accessed by right clicking on a test and then clicking View OBC History

This will display a log as shown below. In the below example, the user "bgriffin" entered results initially selecting No (OBC Failed) and then re-entered results after verifying onboard controls passed by clicking Yes.
