Information
What is coaching?
What is coaching not?
- Receiving advice: this is Mentoring / Consulting.
- Solving past trauma: this is Therapy.
- Delegating the work-to-be-done: this is Consulting / Outsourcing.
Coaching vs. training vs. workshops
- Coaching is usually a 1:1 conversation between client and coach.
- Training happens 1:n where the trainer facilitates a learning process for the group of n (usually 5-20) participants. The core goal is learning. Learning can happen also / predominantly between participants (i.e. sometimes the trainer is not even an expert on the topic - unlike in teaching).
- Workshops might look similar to Training but the process is co-creative, with the goal being e.g. Creating, Prototyping, Brainstorming, Goal setting, more than Learning.
