About JournaPilot

Empowering journalists to work efficiently is paramount for creating an equitable, just, and informed society. Particularly for independent journalists and smaller news organizations with limited resources, artificial intelligence (AI) and data solutions have the potential to revolutionize workflow, boosting their ability to make high-quality journalism accessible to mass audiences.

The PJMF Products & Services team is proud to offer JournaPilot, an AI-powered, open-source platform designed to assist journalists and communicators by quickly generating story-driven, ready-to-share copy for social media, allowing you to focus more on reporting and less on social media content creation. With JournaPilot, you can seamlessly transform any news article into captivating social media content in just a few clicks. In its current version, JournaPilot supports Twitter, LinkedIn, and Facebook.

About the Design

• Easy-to-use interface streamlines content creation in just a few clicks
• Dual large language model integration (ChatGPT 3.5 or Claude) allows users to bring their own API key and generate language variations in ready-to-share format
• Network-level protection, encryption (in transit and at rest), and strong authentication ensure operational excellence for safety and security

How To Create An Account

The following section includes instructions for how to setup your JournaPilot account.

1. Navigate to JournaPilot, https://journapilot.mcgovern.org/.
2. On the Create Account tab, enter the following details and select Create Account.
1. Enter your full email address
2. Enter your password
3. Confirm your password

3. On the Setup MFA screen, you will configure MFA for your account protection. MFA apps support include but are not limited to Google Auth, Microsoft Authenticator, Authy, and more.
1. From your preferred MFA app, scan the QR code generated or QR ID, and copy the MFA "Code" that's been generated before selecting Confirm.

4. On the Terms of Use (TOU) screen, review the TOU and cookies policy. Select both check boxes and select I Accept.

5. On the User Profile screen, populate your profile details.

6. Now you are ready to go!

How To Use JournaPilot

The following section includes instructions for how to use JournaPilot.

1. Ensure that you've setup your JournaPilot (Production) Account, see the instructions provided above.
2. On the Home page, populate the form and select Submit.
1. Story: enter the text of your article. Please note that the supported story length ranges between 200 and 50000 characters)

2. LLM: from the drop-down bar, select ChatGPT or Claude

1. Social Media: select one or more social media platforms to generate content.

3. In the right-hand side panel, the first draft of content for the selected platforms will be generated. Please review and edit the content before selecting Share.
1. When you select Share for any social media button, it will automatically open a new window to share content on the respective platforms.
1. For X (formerly known as Twitter) button will automatically open a new tab with a new tweet pre-filled with the generated content.
2. For LinkedIn and Facebook, JP will copy the generated text content to your clipboard and open the pop-up window for the respective platform. Please note you have to manually paste the text JournaPiolt copied for these platforms.
