Certifying a new employee's I9

Learn how to certify a new hire's I9, which is a required part of hiring and onboarding a new employee.

An overview of certifying a new hire's I9 once they've completed all oustanding tasks in their onboarding portal.
💡Good to know: You can't certify a new hire's I9 until they are 100% complete with all of the requirements in their onboarding portal. The I9 must be certified to convert the new hire into an employee.

Certifying a new employee's I9
Log into AllPay. From the Onboard menu, in the Onboarding column, select Portal Users.
Click on a specific user whose % Complete status is 100%.
AllianceHCM tip: You can only certify a new hire's I9 when they are 100% complete with all of the requirements in their onboarding portal.Click on the option to Certify I9 from the User Details section.
Complete the verification form based on the employee's documents.
In Section 2 - Employer Review and Verification, select one item from List A or one each from Lists B and C and upload supporting documentation.
In the Certification section, check the box to agree to the certification statement. The fields should automatically populate with your information.
AllianceHCM tip: If the fields don't automatically populate, fill them.
Click on Save. You'll get confirmation at the top of the screen once the I9 is certified.
Back on the Portal Users tab, you'll see a green check mark in the I9 Certified column for the employee.
From the Portal Users tab, click on a specific user that is 100% complete and then click Certify I9
In Section 2 - Employer Review and Verification ...
... select one from List A...
... or one each from Lists B and C
In the Certification section, check the box to agree to the certification statement
Click Save.

The I9 Certified column on the Portal Users tab will show a green check mark for the certified employee
