How to make a quiz

You can create a quiz or test from two places: the first is the quiz hub, shown here:

But most of the time, you'll be making a quiz right from the lesson editing page, by clicking here:

Either way, it'll ask you to name your quiz, and when you do, you start editing it. The quiz editing window looks like this, with a big range of question types:

... and even more when you click the extra arrow:

But most of what we need will be in the first few items. This example will use a multiple choice quiz where you choose only one letter for each question, but you can freely mix and match the questions. For each question, write the prompt and the answers. For multiple-choice questions, select the correct answer(s), like so:

And the same for short-answer or fill-in-the-blank questions (as in the example below). Note that the system is case-sensitive (though, see 'Advanced' at the bottom of this page), but you can give ranges of acceptable number answers using a hyphen, or separate acceptable text answers with semicolons, like so:

For short-answer questions (but not fill-in-the-blank), you can also elect to not write an answer and grade it manually. When you are finished with your question, click the big green 'Save' button at the bottom.

Continue clicking the 'question type' buttons to add questions until your quiz is done! When you are finished, click the 'Save quiz' button at the top right, and you're done!

Keep in mind that many students use the Starlight/Superstar app to access course content. Because of formatting problems in this app, if the last question in a quiz or test is a written question, the students will not be able to see their answer as they are typing, as the keyboard covers it! To avoid this issue, a quick-and-dirty fix is to enter a 'filler' question last, such as "Write 'x,' the test is over."
