GoRev Multifactor Authentication User Guide (2fa)
As of GoRev version 2021.07.22, multi factor authentication is supported for all user logins. Each user can activate their 2fa as it is currently an optional setting. If you would like to require two factor authentication for all of your users, please submit a ticket to the GoRev support team.
This guide will consist of two components. A user guide on how to setup and activate your 2fa, and an admin guide on how to support your users should they need to reset their 2fa.
This feature was recently highlighted in a feature spotlight. You can watch this video here:
1. User Multi factor authentication (2fa) setup guide
In the top right of GoRev's main window, begin by clicking on your username. Then, click on Profile Options.
Next, click on the Setup 2FA button.
Then, enter your current password. Once entered, open your authenticator application on your mobile device. Please follow instructions within your authenticator app for adding a new entry. For example, in the Google authenticator app you can click the + sign toward the bottom right to start a new entry. Now, scan the QR code shown in your authenticator app. You should now have an active 2FA code generating that should be labeled as GoRev (Your username). Finally, enter the code into the Authenticator Token box and click Activate 2fa.
You will now be required to enter this code each time you logon to GoRev.
2. Admin Multi factor authentication (2fa) guide
As an admin, it is inevitable that you will have users who lose access to their 2fa generation capability. They may switch phones without transferring their google authenticator codes, and lose access to their 2fa app of choice, it happens.
To reset a user's authenticator, navigate to users within the admin tab, double click into the specific user, and click on the Clear Authenticator Secret button.
You will be prompted with a warning. Clicking yes on this warning will delete the users current 2fa settings. If your server has mandatory 2fa enabled, the user will be required to setup a new 2fa upon next logon. If your server does not have enforced 2fa turned on, the user will need to proceed with self-configuring 2fa as shown in the guide above.
For an added layer of security, you can use the challenge authenticator button to validate your employees are who they say they are. This is useful for larger entities or remote staff scenarios where you may need a way to authenticate a user over the phone. Simply click the Challenge Authenticator button to begin.
You will be prompted to enter the users 2fa code. Have your user provide this code to you and enter it before the code expires.
Once entered, you will receive a success message if the code is validated.
