Hybrid Work Tips and Tricks

Below are some general recommendations for managing and working in a hybrid work environment. Highlights include:

  • Free/Busy Calendar - sharing this in Google simplifies meeting scheduling.

  • Focus Time - also referred to as Meeting-Free Time each Wednesday until 12pm noon.

  • 45-Minute Meetings - shortening meetings to 45 minutes and beginning them on the :15 of the hour to allow for breaks in between meetings and encourage better meeting etiquette (e.g. agendas, use of additional collaboration methods, etc.).

  • Team Agreements - also referred to as Team Contracts or Ground Rules, which define the norms for work and collaboration within the department, unit, team, committee, etc. Examples include establishing working hours, defining collaboration methods, and discussing topics such as email response time.
