Organizational Analysis & Design (OAD) Survey - Brief Overview
What is the OAD?
Mazzetti utilizes the Organizational Analysis & Design Survey, called OAD. The OAD is a personality diagnostic system that is designed to help organizations measure their employees' work related temperaments and job behaviors. This helps companies understand an individuals working style and therefore how to best manage, motivate, and communicate with prospective and current employees.
The OAD Survey is not a test - there are no right or wrong answers or results, or good or bad answers or results. It cannot be passed or failed. It is not a performance appraisal measure, nor does it measure skills or intellect.
You can learn more about the OAD on their website and in this introductory video.
Why does Mazzetti use the OAD?
Mazzetti's goal of using the OAD this information to better understand, manage, and motivate people at all levels of the company. Mazzetti's HR team sends an OAD survey during the interviewing phase with candidates, the pre-boarding phase with upcoming new hires, or the onboarding phase with new hires.
Interview phase: Mazzetti uses a candidate's OAD to understand their working style and personality to gauge their fit with the team and for the role. It does not disqualify a candidate from the interview process; rather, it helps inform the hiring team and inspire further interview questions to gauge fit.
Pre-Boarding phase or Onboarding phase: If a candidate did not complete an OAD survey during the interviewing phase, Mazzetti's HR team may request that the upcoming new hire complete an OAD survey prior to or after starting Mazzetti. This would be helpful for both the candidate and their onboarding support team (supervisor, onboarding buddy, other stakeholders) to understand the candidate's working style and needs to support them and utilize during onboarding conversations when they join Mazzetti.
What's in the OAD survey?
The OAD has two sections. In Section One, there is a list of 110 adjectives. The directions will instruct users to check those words which the user believes describe themselves. In Section Two, the user will see the same adjectives listed in the same order. This time the user will be instructed to select those words which they believe describe how they must behave in their current job
