Template: Outbound Gifting Best Practices

Gifting Best Practices & Ideas

  1. Fold an eGift into your cadence prior to your most common activation point to decrease time to conversion.

  2. Send a congratulatory gift to a prospect when they hit a company milestone, like funding, launching a new product, a company anniversary, hiring a key stakeholder, etc.

  3. Send a pre/post-meeting e-gift to delight a prospect and get them excited about the conversation

  4. Around a holiday, send a treat like cupcakes, or a gift card to our swag store that they can redeem at their leisure

  5. Leverage handwritten notes for added personalization with physical gifts

  6. Send a video via email to accompany your gift

Follow-up Best Practices

  1. Always accompany a gift (whether physical or e-gift) with a follow-up email

    1. We will experiment with pre-gift emails for physical gifts

  2. For physical sends, try the subject line, “About the ___ I sent you” or something else that references they should be receiving something.

  3. For e-gifts, use the subject line to indicate there is gift in the email

  4. Leave a couple of lines in the top of the email for personalization and be sure to reference what you sent within the email body and why you sent it.

  5. Be creative, and thoughtful. Why did you select this gift for this person, at this time?

  6. Remember to tie all gift sends into our triggers and value drivers!

Remember: Timing is often more important than the size or amount of the gift. Be selective and deliberate about who you send to and when. And most importantly, don’t be afraid to get creative!

This just in! According to Sendoso's 2020 State of Sending Report, 70% of e-gifts are redeemed between 8pm and 1am PST, when fewer eGifts are sent. Consider scheduling your next send for after-hours :)
