NEEDS

You'll see this object in: {PROJECT}

A need is created within a Project. You can create a need whether it’s a material or a skill or simply feedback.

When you create a need it’s crucial to define it properly: remember you are asking something from someone in a busy world. Write the title of the need so it describes your need in as much detail as possible. In the description try to be as comprehensive as possible. You want people to know exactly what that need is in terms of time and expertise, but it’s also good to remind people of the impact they’ll have by responding to that need.

Write a deadline in, even if it’s fictional. You can change it later. This will help create a feeling of urgency so other people might answer sooner than later.

Example. You’re a project called ‘Electric Pili’ in a larger JOGL community researching electroactive bacteria. You want to do research on a specific protein. You could post a need asking if anyone in the community has the strain of bacteria you are looking for. Click the “Create” button. Chose “Create Need”. Link it to your project on JOGL. You could use the title “Geobacter Sulfurreducens” (the bacterie you’re looking for), chose the “equipment” category and describe why you need it, and what you are willing to do to receive it.
