Ad Unit Ornamentation Guide
Ad units should include ornamentation on the margins of the primary ad space as a way to increase the overall footprint size and impact of the creative on larger viewports. It should consist of design elements that extend taller than the tiling, inline with the height of the primary ad space. Ornamentation should not contain or cover any critical information for the ad unit - messaging, logos, CTAs, etc. It can contain product shots, but they cannot be the only place those products are displayed. For expandable units, ornamentation should also expand with the unit.
Below you can see visual guides for ornamentation placement. The green space represents the critical content area of an ad - the CTA, logo, copy, etc. all lives in this space. The blue squares represent the ornamentation areas - places where additional design flourishes can be placed. The purple blocks represent the tiling, ornamentation can overlap tiling with no adverse effects.
