Budget Planner Tool for Account Executives

Budget Planner for AEs Training Video

The Budget Planner tool has been custom built to enable you with the following abilities:

Visibility into budget updates for Sales Teams
Top to Bottom budget planning work streams for Sales Teams
Streamlined Communication & Approval Tracking for Sales Leaders and their AE's

  1. Locate the Budget Planner tool by navigating to the app launcher and start typing in the name in the search barScreen_Shot_2022-09-06_at_2.40.56_PM.png

  2. Tool Screen Overview:

    1. You will see a full screen that defaults to this years' budget

    2. The action buttons available to you depends on the role you are in

    3. Table #1: FCST table summarizes the current year's numbers as a baseline for next year's budget planning

    4. Table #2: BUD table summarizes planned budgets for next year

    6. You can edit New Business and Account Budgets in these tables below: Users can use the Apply Uplift button to MASS UPDATE for all or selected months and budget categories per Account

  3. Locking & Unlocking Budget:
    Your Sales Leader or a Business Planner can Lock or Unlock your ability to be able to edit your budgets. You will receive an email alert when the budget is unlocked & locked for you.

  4. Budget Planning for This Year:
    As an AE, you can see your actuals/forecast for the current year so you can use them for next year's planning (this year's table is read-only as seen below)Screen_Shot_2022-09-07_at_9.32.25_AM.png

  5. Budget Planning for Next Year:
    As an AE, you need the ability to set budget values for next year (this table is read-only)

    1. This data is based on your current year's numbers

    2. To the right shows the YOY Growth table

    3. You can see the collapsable sections for New Business and for each account you own (only one section can be opened at a time to help with screen performance)

    4. You can edit budgets for New Business and all of your Accounts (all edited cells will change to orange)Screen_Shot_2022-09-08_at_9.53.12_AM.png

    5. In the Account section, you can click the Apply Uplift button to increase your budget per category, per month with a particular $ amount or % percentageScreen_Shot_2022-09-08_at_9.57.31_AM.png

    6. Once you save the changes in above step, you will see accurate budget changes for the selected Account. You will also see the 2023 - BUD and Growth Data tables updated accordingly.
      NOTE: Your Sales Leader/Manager can update your budgets as well

  6. Approval Submission:
    Once you are done updating your budgets, you can click the Submit for Approval button in the upper right corner of the main screen and will be prompted to enter any additional comments in the Budget Request Window if needed.

    1. When the status changes to Submitted you can no longer edit budgets. Here is a snap shot of the Approval Request History button pop up window.Screen_Shot_2022-09-08_at_10.07.59_AM.png

    2. Your manager can go to your budget record and use the Approve, Reject or use the Approval History window for the same actions.
      NOTE that the Approval History button can be used to see all the history and comments of the budget submission, rejection or approval.

  7. TIP: REFRESHING THE PAGE
    Click the arrow circle button to refresh the Budget summary view without refreshing the web browser. Refreshing your web browser may cause you to lose your work!Screen_Shot_2022-09-08_at_10.22.45_AM2.png

  8. Use Chatter to quickly talk about budgets via the handy Chatter button! (See above screen shot for button location)
    @mention your manager name to shoot an email message to them
