Trading Dashboard - Overview

In a nutshell, the trading dashboard allows us to identify PnL, VaR, and volume changes at a glance, while also providing more detailed analytics tabs to make deeper insights.

The trading dashboard is split into 2 main sections - Trading Overview, and Analytics:

'This week so far', at the very top of the page, gives us our current VaR, PnL, TVol, CVol, and RVol.

'Trading Overview' gives an overview of PnL, Var, and volume for each of our books. We can click directly on the graphs to take us to yield profiles in Echo, in order to identify individual and groups of trades around the timeframe selected.

'Analytics' provides detailed analytics graphs, to pick out the effect of individual markets and instruments on your books. These allow you to deep-dive into the analytics around various processes and parts contributing to the overall performance of the system. These are broken down into:

  1. Choosing an Instrument Selector
  2. P&L Trading Tab
    1. Trading Dashboard - P&L Drop Investigation Example
  3. Pricing Tab
  4. LPs Tab
  5. Signals Tab
  6. Hedgers Tab
  7. Risk Tab

Trading Dashboard Navigation

At the top of the screen, there is an event calendar of recent and upcoming financial news events, this is displayed as a heat chart with the value/colour relating to the weight/importance of the event.

The dashboard shows separate rows for each of your books tenants managed in Compass, clicking each will expand the selection to show the performance metrics for that particular book.

We can view graphs for the last 1, 6, 12, or 24 hours with the drop-down at the top of the page. For the given timeframe, we can view live PnL, Volume and VaR graphs. Hovering over any graph will also mark the corresponding point on the other graphs. In this case, we can see 12:06 highlighted.

Trading book Overview

Once a book is selected, the dashboard will show the live PnL, Volume and VaR graphs related to that specific book for the timeframe selected.

An equivalent positions table is also shown to the right, which can be ordered by clicking the column headings. This allows us to see our largest and smallest positions held under each book.

As shown below, highlighting any section of the P&L or VaR graphs will take us to Echo, which will automatically load the yield profiles for that specific time range, for that particular book:

Similarly, we can select a column in the volumes graph to show the yield profiles in echo for either fills or cancels at that time. Usually, the number of cancels will be negligible, but if not, will be shown as a lighter blue bar, atop the fills bar, as shown in the volumes graph key in the screenshot above. Selecting this lighter blue column would show us only cancels at that time, whereas selecting the darker blue column would show us only fills for that time. The graph acts as a quick way to get an idea of our fill quantity - we can then visit echo to determine why orders have been cancelled.

Analytics Overview

Analytics provides us with more in-depth charts that can be split by instrument and market to determine causes of P&L drops with a much shorter time-to-action. See the Guru pages linked above to understand more on what each Analytics Tab shows.

We can select from the options shown below to display a different set of graphs for the book we have selected. Each option has a range of graphs that can help us quickly identify and fix issues in various aspects of our day-to-day operations.

Instrument and market filters can be applied to the right of the analytics options to only display the data we want. Below, we have filtered by EURUSD, AUDUSD, and GBPUSD. As shown, hovering over any graph at any time also highlights that time on the other graphs on the page. Also see Choosing an Instrument Selector

Note also that hovering over a graph title will give a brief overview of the data it displays.
