Report: Viewing data

This report will contain all data from when users have watched content. Each row in the report is a viewing event, i.e. a specific time when a user clicked play to watch some content until they stopped watching it. All information about the location is based on the IP address.

Each date will get a new report. The report will be updated the following three days after it was created to make sure any potential issues with the export get automatically solved.

Columns

  • event_date - The date when this viewing event occurred.
  • event_timestamp - The exact timestamp when this viewing event started. Timestamp in UTC.
  • user_id - Unique ID for the user that generated the viewing event.
  • duration_in_sec - How long this viewing event lasted, in seconds.
  • device_model - The device model used by the user for this viewing event.
  • device_platform - The platform of the used device. If the web service has been used, this will be the used browser. For applications, this will instead be the operative system / operative system provider. E.g. Apple, Android, Tizen, WebOS etc.
  • device_type - The type of the used device. E.g. web, smartphone, tablet, smarttv etc.
  • media_id - The ID of the actual media asset that is being played. In our API this could also refer to playable ID or asset ID.
  • metadata_id - The ID of the metadata asset that the media asset is linked to. This ID can be used to get more information about the watched asset. This ID is also referred to as viewable ID in our APIs.
  • location_timestamp - The actual time on the location where the user watches the content.
  • location_country - The country where the user watches the content.
  • location_city - The city where the user watches the content.
  • location_latitude - The exact position of where the user watches the content.
  • location_longitude - The exact position of where the user watches the content.
  • media_type - The type of the media e.g. vod, live or catchup

Each row in this report, is a session:

  • A session starts, when the user starts playing, continues playing, and then stops playing.
  • If the user pauses - the same session is retained for up to two minutes between pause and play, thereafter a new session is created
  • If the users scrubs - the same user session is retained, so long as playback continues (and doesn't pause for > 2 minutes)
  • If the user exits the video, and returns to the video withing two minutes, the session is retained.
