Google: SVOD IAP offers creation

If you want to offer subscriptions through in-app purchases on Google you will need to create an offer in the store and match it with an offer in the Magine Pro Console.

If an offer is visible in the app depends on the visibility of the offer in the Magine Pro Console.

Google offer setup

Google separates the attributes of a subscription like billing period and regional availability (base plan) from time-bound offers like trials and introductory prices. This gives you the opportunity to use one base plan and e.g. define different offers for new customers per country.

Create a subscription Base plan

1. Select your app

2. Click on Monetise --> Products

3. Select subscriptions

4. Create product

5. Add a unique Product ID and copy it

6. Add a name and a description

7. Configure the base plan

1. Base plan ID

2. renewal type auto-renewing

3. The grace period, resubscribe, and prepaid feature aren't supported at the moment

8. Select the countries the plan should be available in

9. Set a price

10. Save the base plan

11. Activate the base plan

Best practices for setting prices

If the plan is available in multiple countries click on "update prices", mark all countries, and then click on set price in the right corner of the screen.

Also, note that the price you enter is without taxes. The Google Store will automatically convert your price into local currency and calculate the appropriate tax. You can adjust all local prices separately.

Create an offer for a base plan

If you would like to offer a free trial or charge new users an introductory price you can set an offer and attach it to the base plan. It's also possible to create separate offers for different countries. Here is an example:

Your service is available in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and Finland. All users should get access to the same content, the subscription renews for all monthly and you have set up regular local prices (same base plan). You can now set up an offer for your Swedish customers and give them a 7-day free trial while your users in Norway will get an introductory price (50% discount for one month).

1. Add an offer ID

2. Select the countries (if applicable)

3. Select Eligibility criteria: new customer acquisition

1. select the entitlement to define if a user can get a new offer when choosing a different base plan

2. Upgrades and developer-determined criteria aren't supported
4. Add at least one phase
1. define the type: upfront payment for a defined period, discounted price for a defined period or free trial

2. define duration

3. Apply Offer

5. Save

6. Activate the offer

Create a matching offer in the console

When you have created the base plan and offer (if applicable) in Google you need to create an offer in the Magine Pro Console.

1. Go to the commercial section in the Magine Pro Console

2. Click on "Create offer"

3. Name your offer

4. Select Third-party and then subscription in the drop-down menu

5. Add unique selling points and an image

6. Select Google as a provider

7. Paste the Google Product ID of the base plan into the external product ID field

8. Define in which region the offer can be purchased

9. Add a package

10. Review and create
