Splash essential best practices

Use New School branded page blocks and elements

The M&C design team has created New School branded blocks and elements that can be easily added to your event page or hub. You can access these under the "Yours" or "Shared" buttons via the blocks/elements library. Watch this short video on how to add a block or element.

If you don't find a block/element that suits your needs, please contact universitypublicprograms@newschool.edu with assistance on creating a new one.

Select the appropriate "Audience" type for your event

Under the "Event Audience" section in your event settings page, you will find the following options:

  • Alumni
  • Faculty
  • General Public
  • Prospective Students
  • Staff
  • Students

If your event is open to the public, select "General Public" only - do not check off all audience types.

If your event is open only to The New School community, select "Alumni", "Faculty", "Staff", and "Students" - or any appropriate combination of audience types.

Replicate your event page or hub

Please refrain from duplicating an existing event-page or hub as this may cause unexpected errors on your new page. Instead, you should always create a new event from scratch.

If you find that you are making the same edits to your event pages, please contact universitypublicprograms@newschool.edu to inquire about creating a custom theme for your group.

Promote your event using the Vanity URL

After your event is published, use the Vanity URL to promote your event. It should start with "https://event.newschool.edu/." The Vanity URL is found at the top of the event dashboard or in event settings. Do not use the Event URL ending with ".splashthat.com" as web traffic will not register in Google Analytics.

Editing your Splash email address

Please do not change the non-person email address associated with your Splash profile. Doing so will delete the account from the organization and all your event data may be lost.

If the non-person email address associated with your Splash account needs to be retired, please contact universitypublicprograms@newschool.edu to work out a transition plan for your account.

Edit your event details (title, date, time, location)

Changing the event title on the event page design tool will not change it on the back-end or in the Events Calendar. Always make event detail edits via the event settings page.
