Email Notification Tracking Options
TECHNOTE #179
If you use the Email Notification Feature, you know that both Shipping and Delivery notification emails contain the package’s tracking number in the hyperlink, and clicking on it leads to the carrier’s website where the package can be tracked. Email notification include two other options allowing you to link to your store’s website– or any other website you specify—that has package tracking capabilities.
Carrier’s website: This is the default on initial setup of email notification. This means that when you send out email notifications for your packages, the hyperlink to track the package will go to the carrier’s website.
Other website (simple): The tracking number will be shown in notification, but not as a link. There will be a “Track here” link that will open the specified web page; the user will have to initiate tracking.
Other website (advanced): The tracking number will link to whatever web page you specify, and be inserted into the proper place in the tracking feature. This is done by entering “of%%TRKNO%%” into the URL. Depending on the website, the tracking may automatically initiate.
Note: If your website is hosted by RS Associates, you may contact them for information on setting up the advanced tracking feature. Or, if you are using a service such as packagemapping.com, you may contact them for information on setting up the advanced tracking feature.
