Creating and Using a Comment Bank in PowerTeacher Pro (Including Smart Text)
Creating the Comment Bank
- Login to PowerTeacher Pro and click on Settings from the left side menu. Then click Comment Bank.
- Click the Add button on the right side of the page.
- Enter a Code that the new comment will be stored as. Then begin typing the desired text in the Comment box.
- Insert Smart Text as you go by clicking on the Smart Text drop-down menu.
The example below indicates that "Name Well" is the comment code. The text in the comment box will automatically insert the student's First name followed by "is doing well!" - Click Save at the bottom of the window when finished. Repeat the process to add additional comments to the comment bank as desired.
Using the Comment Bank
- To find your comment bank, open up any assignment and click into a cell to create a new comment for a student. Click the comment bubble at the top right corner of the right side menu.
- Now click on Show Comment Bank.
- Next click the settings cog to choose My Comments.
- Click the plus sign to add the comment to the comment box for the selected student.
- Click on the calculator button (next to the comment bubble) to back out of the comment bank entry window. If you choose, you can now Fill the smart text comment to the remaining students.
*NOTE: Smart text will only work correctly if using the "Fill" function when entering student comments. It will not work if you are copying and pasting the text into each individual student comment box. - If you choose to fill comments to other students, you will want to choose Comments Only.
- Then choose Use Smart Text.
- Click OK once complete.
- Click Save at the bottom of the page.
