Leave of Absence

We recognize that vacation and holidays are not the only time Upstarters may need to be away from the office โ€“ that is why we have a wide range of supportive leave options available when you need an extended period of time off.

If you need time away for medical, pregnancy, bonding, family care, or other qualifying reasons, youโ€™ll request your leave through our leave of absence vendor, Reliance Matrix.

Types of Leaves

Overview of Leaves

Personal Medical Leave

Up to 12 weeks of fully paid medical leave when you need time away due to a serious medical condition + partial pay for additional time off if you need it beyond 12 weeks.

Family Care Leave

12 weeks of fully paid family care leave when you need to take time off to take care of an immediate family member.

Pregnancy Leave

Up to 12 weeks of fully paid pregnancy disability leave for the birthing parent; in addition to Bonding Leave.

Bonding Leave

12 weeks of fully paid leave for parents to bond within the first year for the birth, adoption, or placement of a child.

Military Leave

Upstart grants various types of military leave to eligible employees.
