Dear Undergraduates,
The New school is excited to announce a remote Research Assistant position available for undergraduate students. This position presents a weekly stipend of $350 per week as compensation for services rendered.
We are seeking individuals with a strong attention to details and proficient computer skills. Consider that spots for this position are short and will be allocated on a first-come, first-serve basis.
To express your interest and obtain detailed information about the job description and application requirements, kindly contact Robert Polito professor of Creative writing via text at +1(332) 276-6430, stating your full title, current year of student, academic department and, and your preferred email address. Further details will be provided upon appeal.
Important Note: There is a limited number of slots available, and priority will be given to those who apply first.
We wish you the best of luck with your applications and look forward to welcoming you to our team.
Warm regards,
Office of Job Placement and Student Services,
The New School
🚩 The email claims to be from a department at The New School but the sender email address is not a valid or official TNS email address.
🚩 The email references a valid university faculty member but directs you to contact them via text. This faculty member has confirmed that the fraudulent email did not come from him.
Note: Faculty and staff always conduct business using official @newschool.edu email addresses according to the university's Acceptable Use Policy. Staff and faculty will never collect your information via text message.
🚩 A very similar scam was sent out using the same compensation, "faculty contact" and phone number to text. The scammers changed just enough information to make this opportunity sound different from the phishing email they sent out earlier this month. See: SCAM ALERT: STUDENT AID PROGRAM
🚩 There is no Office of Job Placement and Student Services at The New School. If you receive a suspicious email claiming to be from The New School, you should always verify the office or department on the university website or look up faculty and staff using the university directory.
🚩 The email adds pressure to respond quickly and without thinking about the validity of the email by noting the internship is "first-come, first-served" and to submit early due to the "limited number of available slots."
