What is Standard Data?

Standard data are datasets with a predetermined column mapping that are generated and managed by OpenGov applications such as Budgeting & Planning, Permitting & Licensing, or Financials. Data is added to the datasets by using those applications - for example, by updating a permit record in Permitting & Licensing, making a Journal Entry in Financials, or adding a line item in Budget.

The primary use of Standard Datasets is to create NextGen Reports. Most Standard Datasets will not be listed in Data Manager, however, will be available to select when creating a new NextGen report.

To create a report from a Standard Dataset, first navigate to the Reports section using the left-side navigation bar, and choose the Reports NextGen tab at the top of the screen. Press Create Report.

In the first step of the report creation wizard, you should see any Standard Datasets available in your OpenGov platform among the list of datasets to choose from.

Please note that Standard Datasets cannot be used to create Classic Reports. Standard Datasets will not appear in the list of available datasets when creating a Classic Report.

Over time, OpenGov will add support for additional Standard Datasets that will automatically become available for use in Reporting.
