Requesting a No Cost Extension (NCE) in the MJFF Grant Portal

Overview: A no cost extension (NCE) is an extension of a project period without additional funding from MJFF. If a project’s end date is approaching but the Principal Investigator identifies that the research needs to continue, a no cost extension allows the end date to be extended. Log in in to the MJFF Grant Portal here and follow the steps below.

How to request a no cost extension in the MJFF Grant Portal:

  1. From the homepage, click on Open Grants and select the project for which you wish to request an NCE.
  2. Navigate to the Requirements tab and scroll down to the Amendments/No Cost Extensions section. image.png
  3. Click the + sign and then Create. image.png
  4. Once you have clicked Create, it will bring you to a form that will need to be completed. You will be asked to provide:
    1. Distributed Funds Remaining: Of what has been paid on the grant so far, what is the remaining?
    2. Requested New End Date: What is your desired end date of the grant?
    3. Rationale: Please provide details on why an extension is needed including proposed used of your remaining funds.
    4. Ethical Approval: Please provide any outstanding ethical approval certifications.

5. Once you have entered the requested information, click the Submit button. Your project's Grant Manager will then be notified and review your NCE request. Once submitted, you can view the request under Amendments/No Cost Extensions on the Requirements tab of the grant.

If you have any questions, please reach out directly to your Grant Manager.
