Designing transactional emails
When you design transactional emails you will need to add specific mandril email templates so that your customers receive the correct template with the correct language localisation.
DetFAULT TEMPLATES
Setting up all required templates in the service improves the user communication & activation experience.
Mandatory Templates
- Reset password
- Pin code (if parental control is enabled & used)
Optional Templates (highly recommended)
- Purchase confirmation email - rental
- Subscription confirmation email
- Reminder for failed payments
- Dunning email after downgrade
- Cancellation confirmation
- Subscription reactivation
- Subscription price change
LANGUAGE LOCALISED TEMPLATES
If you have several languages in your service, it is recommended (but optional) to setup a langauge for each transactional email template. The localised template the user receives will be dependant on a number of factors:
- Reset password & Pin code (in order of selection if it exists, if the data & Mandrill template exists)
- Uses the customers browser language, else...
- Uses the customers CRM profile language setting (which is based on the users signup settings), else...
- Uses the default Mandrill template
- Other templates (in order of selection if it exists, if the data & Mandrill template exists)
- Uses the customers CRM profile language setting (which is based on the users signup settings), else...
- Uses the default Mandrill template
Mandrill Template Localisation
- Use the same template slug, as the default template (i.e. reset_password), and add the ISO 639-2 two letter country code (lower case) as the suffix
- The additional templates only needs to be setup in Mandrill
- i.e. default template for password reset slug:
reset_password
- i.e. Swedish localisation template for password reset slug:
reset_password-se
The information for the dynamic data populated in the templates comes from the platform.
- Dates are automatically converted & translated to the using the user's language settings (locale).
- The currency format follows the standards of the set language as well.
- The only placeholder that isn't automatically translated is *|renewal_periodicity|* which can be monthly or yearly. If you need to translate this field you can use the following method for each localised template.
*|ELSEIF:renewal_periodicity=monthly| content to display if the value for translated monthly
|END:IF|- e.g.
*|ELSEIF:renewal_periodicity=monthly|månatlig|END:IF|
|ELSEIF:renewal_periodicity=yearly|* content to display if the value for translated yearly
|END:IF|- e.g.
*|ELSEIF:renewal_periodicity=yearly|årligen|END:IF|
