Why is applicant seeing an icon for "Plaid" when paying fee by E-check?
When an applicant chooses to pay by E-check (ACH) for permit or application fees, they will see a logo for the service used to validate and encrypt the corresponding bank information. This service is called "Plaid."
To pay via e-check, the applicant will need to choose their bank name (ex. Chase, PNC, Bank of America, et cetera) and then enter their bank account credentials (username and password). This will allow the program to register their bank routing and account information and encrypt it for use with the payment.
Please note that not all banks are supported by Plaid, so an applicant won't be able to pay via e-check in OpenGov Permitting & Licensing if their bank is not supported by Plaid. In these scenarios, we recommend the applicant pays via credit card or paper check. Standard processing fees will apply for all electronic payments, whether e-check or credit card, made via OpenGov Permitting & Licensing.
All payments made via e-check will process via Stripe to customer bank accounts. E-checks typically take 2-6 business days from time of payment in OpenGov Permitting & Licensing to time of payout to customer bank account.
