The Tag Properties Menu

  1. Open the Canary Admin. Select the 'Historian' tile.

  2. Double click a DataSet.

  3. Double click an HDB2 file.

Tags are listed in the white window in alphabetical order and can be searched by any part of the tag name.

Properties

When a tag is selected the Properties panel displays tag information. Clicking the Property will show any history.

Description

A string value describing the tag.

Engineering Units

A string value of the type of units.

High Limit

The default high value used by trending clients supporting limits.

Low Limit

The default low value used by trending clients supporting limits.

Sample Interval

The minimum number of milliseconds between changing values.

Default High Scale

The default value for the high scale of a trend.

Default Low Scale

The default value for the low scale of a trend.

Annotations

Appears and displays the first annotation if contained within the current file. Clicking the annotation will display all the annotations for the current tag within this file.

Arrow Down to Change the Panel to Show File Options

Rename

Bring up a dialog to allow the tag name to be changed in:
+This File only
+ Entire DataSet
+ This File and all Older Files
+ This File and all Newer Files

Range Selector

When a tag is first selected the Range Selector will go to the end of the file and the scroll bar will go to the bottom, showing the most recent record at the bottom of the tag record grid. Tick marks are displayed above the selector indicating the beginning of a vector. Dragging to or clicking near one of these tick marks will snap the single grip to this location. The date/time of the vector at this location is displayed in a tool tip to help locate the time of a record.

Tag Records

The Tag Records lists the updates stored by the Historian. The Historian is an update by exception type of database. If the value or quality of an update change from the previously stored value, a new update will be stored. No data compression is done on the data.

Row

Update numbering by vector.

Timestamp

Date\time converted to the time zone and locale of the system.

Value

Value of the type defined in the Type column.

Quality

OPC quality score.

Type

Data type of the value.

Vector

A group of updates named with the first timestamp in the group and sized by requested space allocation of the Historian.

Trend

Button to displays a basic trend of the data in the current file for the selected tag. View only (no controls).

Refresh

Button to retrieve any updates to the selected tag since it was expanded for viewing. Available only when viewing the most recent file.
