Data security and financial transactions at events

Any New School college, department, center that accepts credit or debit card payments must protect the credit and debit card data of its event guests and donors.

Please consult this PCI DSS Compliance Info Sheet, created by the Information Security & Privacy Office, for more detail on how to securely manage these payments.

Additionally, it is important for event planners to understand that financial transactions by guests while on the New School Guest wifi network are inherently insecure (as it would be on any other guest wifi network). As such, it is best practice to design your event marketing and communication strategies around encouraging guests and donors to conduct financial transactions on their own devices while at home, and/or while connected to their wireless provider. More specifically, avoid using any event language indicating that ticket sales or donation and gift transactions are encouraged while guests are on-campus during the event.
