How to Apply OPC DA Data Transformations

Data Transformations are a popular feature on the OPC UA/DA Collectors. A Data Transformation is a calculation applied to a single tag using standard mathematical operators. Data Transformations are used primarily for measurement conversions, but can be used to accomplish other ends as well. Data Transformations are useful to apply a calculation to a tag without creating a calculated tag in the Calculation Server and consuming a tag license.

  1. Open a logging session and log tags. Read the article to learn how to create a logging session.

  2. The tag undergoing a data transformation is represented as a lowercase 'x' in the data transformation equation.

  3. Use the following mathematical operators to craft equations:

  1. Hit 'Apply' and then 'Start'. The font turns red if the expression is typed incorrectly.
