Starfish: Class Schedule Meeting Time Management

You can manage class schedules that display in the drop downs when taking attendance.

Create a Single Meeting Time

If you need to create a single meeting time without yet creating a schedule:

  1. Select the Record Attendance button in either of the following locations:
    • Starfish homepage
    • Attendance sub-tab within the Students tab
  2. The Record Attendance window displays.

  1. Select Add a single meeting time.

  1. Select the day in the Day calendar picker.
  2. Add the start/end times in the Time free text fields.
  3. Select Submit.

Continue with taking attendance as you normally would.

Delete a Single Meeting Time

Select the Record Attendance button in either of the following locations:

  • Starfish homepage
  • Attendance sub-tab within the Students tab
  1. The Record Attendance window displays.

  1. Select Next.
  2. Select Delete this meeting time

  1. Confirm your selection when the popup window displays. The meeting time and any previously recorded attendance data for the selected meeting time will be deleted.

Note: If your institution is sending section schedule information from the SIS, removed meeting times may reappear if updated schedules are sent from the SIS.

Create a Recurring Schedule

  1. From the Attendance tab, select Class Schedule. By default, the Schedule radio button is selected.
  2. Select +Schedule.
  3. Enter the appropriate cadence for your recurring class schedule.
  4. Select Submit. The recurring schedule displays in the Meeting Time drop down when you take attendance.

Edit a Recurring Schedule

  1. From the Attendance tab, select Class Schedule.
  2. Locate the meeting time schedule you want to edit and make the appropriate changes.
  3. Select Submit.

Delete a Recurring Schedule

Note: If you have taken attendance for some of a recurring class schedule, deleting a recurring schedule will also remove your attendance.

  1. From the Attendance tab, select Class Schedule.
  2. Select the Delete icon to the right of the schedule section you would like to remove.

Scheduling Tips

If you need to add more than three-quarters of your class’s scheduled meeting times, and the schedule is weekly, we recommend using the Create a Recurring Schedule tool. This process will create additional classes but you will go back and delete those excess class times. This option should be taken when creating a single class time would take longer.:

  1. Create a recurring schedule
  2. Delete the excess single meeting times

The other suggested option is when adding a missing meeting time; you would only add it when you are entering attendance for that day.
