Model Bookings at Parsons

We are currently not accepting requests yet for Fall 2024 semester. Please reach out if you have any questions in advance of the Fall semester opening!

Booking a Model through New School Models

If you have been approved to reserve model hours for your course, whether it be a fit/fashion model or a drawing/figure model, you will submit all of your requests through our FormStack Request Form (see relevant links below) to our New School Models team!

If you are unsure if your course has model hours allocations, we advise you to contact your program leadership directly to confirm before requesting any model hours.

How to Request a Model

New School Models is currently accepting requests from faculty of all undergraduate and graduate courses that require drawing or fit models. Before you submit your request, you must read the TNS Models Protocol & Code of Conduct. It’s critical that you understand the appropriate ways to engage with our models before your first booking.

Please use the below guide as you submit a FormStack request to NewSchoolModels!

Step 1: Prepare your model request.

Before submitting your request, we expect you to have a general understanding of your model needs for the semester. Each course has a set number of hours per semester they are allotted to use, and we cannot honor any requests that exceed those hour allotments.

Please have all of the information you need to make a complete request prior to your submission!

Step 2: Completing the FormStack Form.

NOTE: Your request must be made with a minimum of two weeks time to fulfill the request. FormStack will not allow you to make your request earlier than this two week window.

If you are requesting a fit model (fashion model), please use the Formstack Form linked here.

If you are requesting a drawing model (figure model), please use the Formstack Form linked here.

Step 3: Wait for confirmation from New School Models team

Once you’ve submitted your request for a model, the New School Models team will begin working to fulfill your request. You will be informed of your booking in one of the following ways:

  • Fit model confirmations will be uploaded to our Fit Models Confirmation sheet linked here. To confirm your model booking, please periodically review the status of your submission on this sheet. We advise checking our confirmation sheet weekly once you've submitted your request!
  • Drawing model confirmations will be confirmed via a Google calendar booking. On the calendar invitation, you’ll see the date, time, location and booked model for your request. This allows you to raise any concerns you might have prior to your appointment, as well as contact your drawing model directly should there be any change in plans.

Step 4: Booking confirmation received - you’re all set!

Editing or Updating My Model Request

The best practice for model usage is to ideally submit the most accurate information as is possible, or to wait until you have all the information you need 100% confirmed. However, if your circumstances change and you need to edit or update your models request, you should reach out via email to NewSchoolModels@newschool.edu.

When reaching out to request a change to your model request, we advise you include the following information:

  • Please be specific in your request! Be specific when naming the changes you need. We can help you best if we have detailed, specific and accurate information.
  • Exactly identify the request that you would like changed. If you are requesting a change to multiple entries, or would like multiple different updates across many entries, it may be wise to simply cancel the requests outright and resubmit new requests.
  • Please keep time of change in mind! If you make a last-minute request to change or update a request, please be mindful to keep your requests accomplishable and critical. If you’re within 24 hours of a request, it will be more challenging to accomplish your update as opposed to a change request made 1 week prior.

Example of a edit/update request:

“Hello New School Models!

I have a fit model reservation with Jane Smith next Friday, March 15th between 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM for CRN 12345. My students have let me know that many of their pieces are costume pieces, meaning they are quite large in scale and material. I’m anticipating that our fittings may run long, as the model will need extra time to change in and out of garments.

Is it possible to add an additional 1 hour to my booking for March 15th, making the new appointment 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM? This way our model will have plenty of time to safely change garments without the risk of damaging student work while still managing to include our original schedule of fittings.”

Canceling Your Model Appointment

All cancellations must be notified within 2 business days of the date and time of your appointment. If you cancel with less than 2 business days notice, you will not be able to recoup the hours of your appointment.

If you need to cancel your appointment, we advise you to cancel as soon as possible to provide ample time to communicate this with our models and agency (as appropriate).

All cancellations should be emailed to NewSchoolModels@newschool.edu. When canceling, please provide the exact information of which appointment you would like to cancel. If you are canceling multiple appointments, please include all specifics and details of the appointments, including dates/times, models booked in the appointment, and location.

Model Cancellations/No-Show Appointments

If your fit or drawing model has not shown up at the time of your appointment, you should be able to send a message directly to the model to confirm attendance by using either (1) the contact information via the Fit Models Confirmation Page or (2) your Google Calendar invite for your drawing model appointment. We advise that when you reach out to your model, you keep NewSchoolModels@newschool.edu on copy so we may support you as you coordinate.

If your model is unable to attend or not responding to your message, we will try our best to arrange for a last-minute replacement. If we are unable to replace your model, we will reschedule your appointment for another day.

drawing model resources | Strategies for figure drawing without a model

Please take advantage of these resources developed during our online learning period! These are available for alternative strategies to figure drawing without a live model in the case of moving to remote learning, and can be applied if you have a last-minute cancellation. You can use these to plan for a class should you have a cancellation!
