How to Configure OPC UA Deadbanding
A deadband is the range that a tag value can vary until it is logged. Applying a deadband to a tag is useful for filtering out inconsequential data, which conserves network and machine resources while reducing the data footprint.
Open the Canary Admin
Start a New Session or pause an existing session.
Select the 'Configuration' tab
Select a tag.
Under 'Tag Settings', enter a value in the 'Deadband' field. The value entered is the +/- range that a tag's value can vary before it gets logged.
Ignition's OPC UA Server does not support this functionality.
Deadband TYpes
Select a tag group to access the 'Group Settings' section. Alter the Deadband Type in the 'Group Settings' section. Two deadbanding options are accessible in the 'Deadband Type' drop-down menu.
Absolute Deadband
When a new value is received from the OPC server, it must differ from the previously logged value by more than the specified amount. If it did not increase or decrease by more than the specified value, the value gets discarded.
Percent Deadband
Percent deadband means the deadband range is equal to a percentage of the incoming value. The 'percent' deadband is more helpful when setting a deadband for a group of similar tags. Most OPC UA Servers do not support percent deadbanding.
