Certificate of Insurance (COI) Procedure- Outgoing or University Certificates of Insurance

The New School will provide outside organizations evidence of the University's insurance coverage when contractually obligated.

Below are sample situations that may require a COI from The New School:

  • Written contract that requires a COI.
  • Use of an off-campus location to hosting an event, ceremony, athletic event, theatre production, practice space, job fair, etc.
  • Leasing or renting equipment, motor vehicle(s), or event space.
  • Internships or practicum placements.
  • co-sponsored program with another university or organization.
  • Grant sub awards.

Procedure

Please email coi@newschool.edu to request a New School COI. Requests should be submitted two weeks before the date of the event or activity.

The following information is required when requesting COIs:

  • Certificate holder information (requesting third-party name, address and contact information)
  • Purpose/type of activity
  • Location(s) in which coverage is required
  • Dates for which coverage is required (specific or a range)
  • Specify event/activity will be onetime or ongoing
  • Insurance coverages and limits the contract requires (e.g. Workers Compensation, General Liability, Auto, Property, Professional, Additional Insured Status).
  • A fully executed contract or written agreement should be summited with all requests
  • Endorsement Required : Forms Include
    • Additional insured
    • Primary and Non-Contributory
    • Waiver of Subrogation

COI requests, with all required information above, will be reviewed upon submission to coi@newschool.edu. The COI will be issued to the the requestor for distributed to the appropriate third-party.
