How to Set Up Your Portal Credentials (New Login)

You can follow the steps below instead.

You’ll need:

  • Access to your email to receive a verification code
  • Existing members should use the email address SOCAN has on file to ensure automatic account linking
  • You’ll be asked to set up multi-factor authentication (MFA)

Step 1 — Start Creating Your Login

  1. Go to the SOCAN Member Portal sign-in page
  2. Select Create New Login

Step 2 — Verify Your Email

  1. Enter your email address
    • Existing members: use the email SOCAN has on file
  2. Complete the captcha
  3. Click Send verification code
  4. Check your email for the 6-digit code
  5. Enter the code and click Verify code

Step 3 — Create Your Password

  1. Enter and confirm your password

Password requirements:

  • 8–64 characters
  • At least 3 of the following:
    • Lowercase letter
    • Uppercase letter
    • Number
    • Symbol

Step 4 — Set Your Display Name

  1. Enter a Display Name
    • This name appears on your portal dashboard
    • It is not public
    • You can use your given name, artist name, or a pseudonym
  2. Enter your First Name and Last Name

Step 5 — Set Up Multi-Factor Authentication

  1. Choose an authentication method:
    • Text message / phone call
    • email
    • Authenticator app
  2. Click Create
  3. If using an authenticator app, follow the on-screen steps to complete setup

Step 6 — Access Your Dashboard (New members - see instructions below)

  • If you used a registered SOCAN member email, your account should automatically link and display your Member Dashboard

If You’re Signing Up as a New SOCAN Member

  • Your screen may appear greyed out
  • Scroll down to My Membership Applications
  • Select Create New Application
  • Complete and submit your membership application
  • Your dashboard will appear once your application is processed

What Happens Next?

Once your credentials are set up, you can:

  • Access the Member Portal
  • Submit applications, works, cue sheets, cases, and more
  • Manage your account and profile information
