The Faculty Center for Innovation, Collaboration and Support
The Faculty Center for Innovation, Collaboration, and Support supports faculty in their professional lives at The New School. All programs are open to full-time and part-time faculty, graduate students, and staff. All workshops and links are listed on The Faculty Center’s Google calendar. Please add us to your calendar, and look out for additional workshops in which faculty share their practices and experiments, successful or not.

The New School is an institutional member of the National Center for Faculty Development & Diversity (NCFDD), a leading provider of professional development in higher education. They are dedicated to supporting faculty members, scholars and artists and designers in academia in their careers. They provide professional development and mentoring through a host of resources that are applicable across all fields, disciplines and practices. All staff are also eligible to take advantage of the many virtual resources NCFDD offers for professional support and development.
To learn more about these resources and activate your membership, visit The New School’s NCFDD website.
University Learning Center (ULC)
New School faculty and staff are welcome to request tutoring services from the University Learning Center (ULC). While we operate remotely, faculty and staff can request appointments, and we will do our best to accommodate them. The maximum number of appointments faculty or staff can have per week is two; two-hour sessions are not available, and no appointments will be available during the last two weeks of the semester. For same-day requests, email us to see if any walk-in sessions are available. To request an appointment for the current week, email us at least 24 hours in advance and provide at least three times when you are available. Please refer to the University Learning Center site for additional information.
English Pronunciation Help
Each semester, the Center for English Language Studies (CELS) offers a free 8-session pronunciation workshop open to the whole New School community — students, visiting scholars, staff, and faculty — who wish to improve the clarity of their speech and build their confidence in speaking English. Review their website for additional information.
