Integrating the AllianceHCM ATS with Indeed
Objectives:
Learn how to integrate your AllianceHCM applicant tracking system (ATS) with the job site Indeed. This will share your job postings on these popular job sites while also making sure candidates apply within the AllianceHCM ATS, which is a part of AllPay.
With this integration, you can manage candidates and the hiring process from within AllPay instead of across multiple job sites.
This integration will eliminate the need for manually creating and managing job postings on multiple job websites.
Once this integration is set up, you will create new job postings, edit existing postings, close postings, see applications and review candidates from within AllPay. You will use the job site to boost any positions or make changes to your job site account/profile.
What's in this article?
Steps to set up an XML URL so you can integrate with the Indeed job site; information about where in AllPay positions are created and what each should contain; and steps to create an XML URL for multiple ATS portals.
💡Good to know: Your company must be using the ATS from AllianceHCM for this integration to work. If you don't have the ATS within your AllPay environment, please contact your customer success manager. Similarly, you must have an existing account with a job site in order to integrate with the AllianceHCM ATS.
Indeed will only allow one ATS per account.
The integrations are based on an XML URL. Once the integration is set up, any changes you make within AllPay will be reflected on the job site within 24 hours.
AllianceHCM tips: Within AllPay, click on the little information symbol next to a field to learn more about what is required.

- Hover over the Onboard menu in the top navigation
- Click on Portal Setup under the Applicants column
- Select your portal (or a portal, if you have multiple) and look in the Applicant Portal Setup section
- Under the field Job Board XML URLs, select the URL for Indeed and copy it and paste it somewhere you can refer back to it (such as a Notepad file)

Where jobs are generated and where they are housed
- Jobs are posted to Indeed if they are present in the ATS in the Applicants menu under Positions.
- ATS jobs are present on Indeed as long as the Start Date and End Date determine that they are active job postings. Additionally, they must have a Location checked at the bottom.
- The Locations checked are the jobs per location that will be posted in the XML feed. For example, if you have two locations checked, there will be two job postings for the positions: One in each location.
- All formatting in the Positions tab must be plain text, with no special characters, no tables, and no design elements.
AllianceHCM tip: The Job Postings tab under the Applicants menu is for any client using the postings.com integration. This can interfere with your positions if you are using any XML feeds. - Indeed requires each position include the following fields:
- Job Title
- Start Date and End Date
- Description
- Education Requirement (if using Indeed Careers)
- Experience Requirement (if using Indeed Careers)
AllianceHCM tip: You can find more information in this Indeed resource page.
Creating an XML URL for multiple ATS portals
If you have multiple ATS portals and want to integrate them with a job site, you can create a single XML URL that includes multiple portal identifiers.
- From AllPay, copy the Job Board XML URL text from each portal and paste into Notepad. This should leave you with a Notepad file with multiple XML URLs in it
- Identify the portal name in each URL. It's the text that follows the equal sign after the text "portalname"
• For example, in this URL, the portal name is "jenniferbookkeeping":
https://www.hralliance.net/Apply/Feed.aspx?portalname=jenniferbookkeeping&vendor=indeed - Consolidate all of the portal names into one XML URL, separating each portal name with a comma (but no space)
• Example single portal URL for Indeed:
https://www.hralliance.net/Apply/Feed.aspx?portalname=jenniferbookkeeping&vendor=indeed
• Example multiple portal URL for Indeed—note that portalname is now portalnames:
https://www.hralliance.net/Apply/Feed.aspx?portalnames=jenniferbookkeeping,DANDA,FMI&vendor=indeed - Provide this XML URL to your Indeed representative
• Your Indeed representative should put the XML URL into a web browser, and when the page loads, right click and select View Page Source. That will provide the information needed to create the integration. - Need more help? Indeed has more information here, or you can reach out to your Indeed account manager.
