Retiring from The New School
Eligibility
Individuals who meet the below criteria may be eligible for retirement benefits from The New School:
- Non-union administrative staff, full-time faculty, 1205 Professional, and SHENS
- Completed 10 or more years of full-time service
- Age 65 or older
Retirement Benefits
Once retired, eligible individuals are classified as a "Retiree" in our systems.
Retirement privileges from The New School include maintaining your New School email address, an ID card for access to university buildings, and library usage and borrowing privileges (excluding Bobst).
You may also be eligible for the Medigap Reimbursement Plan, which provides for the reimbursement of the cost for medical insurance of up to $1,500 per fiscal year that supplements Medicare Part A, B and D which is purchased on an individual basis through an association (i.e. AARP). See plan for details. From time to time the university may offer eligible faculty a Faculty Retirement Incentive plan.
