Are the Admin Hubs ADA accessible?

79 Fifth Avenue Admin Hub have staircases leading up to the main lobby door. For wheelchair access to either hub, please contact the Hub Manager to coordinate access through the back elevators.

Who has access to the Admin Hubs?

Staff only (full-time, part-time, and temporary staff). The admin hubs were created to support the several hundred staff that gave up their assigned desks/offices during the pandemic, and to replace some of the staff meeting spaces that were reallocated to academic priorities (e.g. new labs, etc.).

Any staff member, including temporary employees, can make a reservation using Engage to work at the admin hubs, even if they have a desk or office on campus. New staff will not have access to make reservations until after their hire date. A supervisor or coworker may book a desk under their own name for the new employee to use on their first day of work.

As a co working space for staff, the hubs are not intended for academic activities or events so the floors are not accessible to students or faculty. Academic and event spaces can be reserved via 25Live or by contacting the scheduling coordinator for an academic program. Faculty also have access to the Faculty Resource Center to reserve a space to work. Additionally, the Faculty / Staff lounge is located at the University Center 7th floor (no reservation needed).

See Visitors at the Admin Hub for more information.

Can student workers use the hubs?

A student employee may work at the hub as part of their on-campus job as long as the following conditions are met:

  1. A staff member from the department has reserved a desk under their own name for the student to use. There are several workstations with PC and Mac desktops that a student can login to using their New School login credentials.
  2. A staff member from the department is on site prior to the start of the student's shift to let them into the hub since students do not have access to open the doors.
  3. A staff member from the department is present for the duration of the student's shift.

Can faculty or other guests come to my meeting at the Hub?

We encourage staff hosting a meeting with non-staff attendees to reserve a conference room or open classroom in one of our many buildings with a Campus Safety desk.

See Visitors at the Admin Hub for more information.

Can we host an event at the Hub?

We host events for staff at the hub and have 3 lounge/collaboration spaces for this purpose. Event requests should be emailed to the Admin Hub Manager. Generally speaking, the only events allowed at the Admin Hubs during working hours are those open to all staff.

See Visitors at the Admin Hub for more information.

Can I store things at the Hub?

Lockers are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Create your own pin to lock/unlock the locker, or use your smartphone to operate the lock. Watch this video to set up the OCS Smart app, available in the Apple App Store or Google Play.
