How To Add Publisher Links in the Member Portal

Before You Start

Publisher links are added using T (“to”) and F (“from”) codes, and the numbers correspond to the row of the Assignor and Assignee.

Understanding Publisher Link Codes

Publisher links use matching T and F codes to link a Assignor (writer or publisher) to an Assignee (publisher).

  • Assignors (writers, composers, or publishers) use a T (“to”) code
    T#; Assigns their rights to an Assignee
  • Assignees use an F (“from”) code
    F#; Receives rights from an Assignor
  • The number (#) links the Assignor and Assignee together
    → The number indicates the row of the shareholder being linked
You can add more than one relationship per contributor if needed.

Examples

Two Composer/Authors, Two Publishers

  • Composer/Author A is published by Publisher A
    • Composer/Author A → T2; - Paul assigns to T2;
Because his publisher is in the second row (Universal)
    • Publisher A → F1; - Universal receives assignation from F1;
Because their assignor is in the first row (Paul)
  • Composer/Author B is published by Publisher B
    • Composer/Author B → T4;- Jamie assigns to T4;
Because his publisher is in the fourth row (Cordova)
    • Publisher B → F3;- Cordova receives assignation from F3;
Because their assignor is in the third row (Jamie)

SAME PUBLISHER FOR MULTIPLE Composers/authors

If multiple Assignors share the same Assignee, each Assignor uses the same T number, and the publisher lists each corresponding F code.

Two Composer/Authors, one publisher

  • Composer/Author A T3; — Paul assigns to T3;
Because his publisher is in the third row (Cordova)
  • Composer/Author B T3; — Jamie assigns to T3;
Because he is also published by the publisher in the third row (Cordova)
  • Publisher A F1; F2; — Cordova receives assignation
Because F1; Paul is listed in the first row and F2;Jamie is listed in the second row

How Autofill Works

In some cases, the system will automatically fill in the corresponding code:

  • Example:
    • If you enter T1; on an Assignor's row,
    • The system may automatically populate the matching Fcode on the linked Assignee row.
Always review all contributor rows before submitting.

Formatting Rules

Incorrect formatting can prevent validation.

  • Always include a semicolon (;)
  • Separate multiple codes with a space
  • Use one or more codes per contributor row

Not Sure If Your Link Is Set Correctly?

Check that:

  • Each creator has one or more T codes
  • Each publisher has the corresponding F codes
  • All codes end with a semicolon (;)
  • Numbers link the correct creator and publisher
