Preference Card Designer
GoRev Preference Card Designer is a tool designed to help save you valuable time, which allows you to create groups of charges that are commonly found used in a particular procedure. Once a preference card has been created, it can be applied to accounts, have their quantities changed, and once finalized will create charges. Follow the steps below to learn how to design and implement preference cards.
Navigating to Preference Card Designer
To begin, click on the “Preference Cards” button located in the Billing Data section of the Admin Toolbar.
This should navigate you to the window below. From here you can either open an existing preference card to edit, or create a new one. To open an existing card click on the "Open" button.
To create a new card, click the "Cancel" button on the Select Preference Card window, then on the next screen click the "New" button.
Designer - Overview
Since the process for creating a new card and editing an existing one are essentially the same, lets start from scratch so we can see the entire process. Once you select “New” you will be prompted to name your card with a this pop up
(Typically this would be named after a procedure, however you can opt to name this whatever you want, so long as it does not conflict with an existing card name.)
Below is the designer screen. As you can see there are multiple options to choose from, so lets start by going over the top row.
New/Open/Delete: In this scenario we have already click on “New” and have a blank card. “Open” will allow you to edit an existing card, which includes the ability to "Delete" the card as well.
Edit Inherited: If there is another card that was inherited (don't worry, we'll explain how to do this shortly) you can click “Show Inherited” to show any charges from the inherited card, or hide them from view.
Rename Active Card: If you need to change the name of the current preference card for any reason, you can use this feature to rename it.
To begin adding charges, type your search criteria in the "Add Charge" box. GoRev will automatically pull up a list of charges that match your search based on Charge Code, CPT Code, RevenueCode, or Description.
Double click on the charge you want to add, enter the amount in the Quantity box, then click on the "Add" button.
Designer - Charges
Once you have added charges, your screen will look similar to the below screenshot. Below are the options in this field.
- Add: Allows you to add another charge
- Edit: Allows to edit a single line charge/quantity
- Remove: Allows you to remove a single line charge
- Active Physician: This allows you to specify charges that may be specific to a doctor, for instance, a surgeon may work in a liquid nitrogen cooled suit. If the procedure is listed as performed by this specific doctor, these items will appear, if by a different doctor they will not.
Designer - Notes
GoRev also allows you to add notes to any preference card, to do so click on the "Notes" tab.
Type your note into the New Note box, then click on the "Add" button.
Your note will now appear in the list, if something needs to be changed you can select a note by clicking on it and then clicking the "Edit" button, or if you would like to remove a note you can click on the "Remove" button.
Editing Inherited Cards
If there is a procedure that includes all of the charges on an existing card plus some more, you can simply use this to select a preference card and inherit all of the charges off of it instead of adding all of those charges individually. To begin, click on the "Edit Inherited Cards" button.
The Inherited Cards box will appear on the right side of the window, to add a new card click on the "Add" button.
Select the card you want to add by clicking on it, then click the "Inherit" button.
The card you added will now appear in the Inherited Cards window and all the charges associated with it will be added under Charges.
To remove a inherited card, simply click on it in the Inherited Cards window and then click the "Remove" button.
Preference cards can save on both time and human error, thus if used properly can be a very valuable feature in GoRev.
