Converting the Exported Literacy Assessment Scores (PowerSchool Admin)
The purpose of this guide is to assist in converting the literacy assessment scores that are exported from PowerSchool into meaningful instructional level expectations.
*NOTE: If you have NOT already exported the Literacy Assessment Scores from the admin side of PowerSchool, please do so by following this guide: Exporting Literacy Assessment Results (PowerSchool Admin).
- Open the exported file using Microsoft Excel. This can be done a few different ways:
- Right-Click on the file and choose Open with. Then choose Microsoft Excel from the list of available apps; OR
- Open Microsoft Excel first. Then select File > Open. Navigate to the export file and open it; OR
- Adjust your Default Apps in windows settings to always open .text files with Microsoft Excel. Then simply double click the export file.
- Download your own copy of the Literacy Assessment Conversion file by clicking HERE (the file should automatically download, depending on your browser settings).
- Open the Literacy Assessment Conversion file.
- From the Export file: you will be copying the student data (without the teacher-entered scores)
- Click and drag to select the student data in columns F to J (do not copy column headers).
- Copy the selected data (right-click and copy or press CTRL + C).
- To the Literacy Assessment Conversion file: you will be pasting the student data while keeping the destination formatting.
- Right-click on cell A3 and choose Paste Values from the Paste Options section (shown by the icon of a clipboard with numbers). This will retain the embedded sheet formatting.
- From the Export file: you will now be copying the teacher-entered scores
- Click and drag to select the applicable reporting period column of scores.
R1 (column K) / R2 (column L) / R3 (column M) / R4 (column N) - Copy the selected data (right-click and copy or press CTRL + C).
- To the Literacy Assessment Conversion file: you will now be pasting the teacher-entered scores while keeping the destination formatting.
- Right-click on cell F3 and choose Paste Values from the Paste Options section. This will retain the embedded sheet formatting.
- You should now see the converted scores in column G highlighted based on the value:
You can choose to filter column information as needed using the built in filters in the column headers. Sorting will not work on this protected sheet.
