Guru sends email notifications to users depending on their role and preferences. These include:
- Weekly Insights, the weekly digest of new information, described below.
- When you our your group is sent an Announcement.
- When there is an update made to a card you Follow.
- New Comments & Mentions—including replies to comments, when they are resolved, and if they are reopened.
- When you have been given access to a Restricted card.
Advanced Permissions
Users with Advanced Permissions (Author, Owner, Admin), receive all the above communications, as well as:
- Card Verification Requests, which generally occur when an edit is needed for a card in which you are the verifier.
- When a comment is posted to a card for which you are the verifier.
- When you have been shared into a Draft card.
- When an Announcement you've sent is read for the first time.
- When you export information from Card Manager or Analytics (opt-out not available).
- Import and sync notifications (opt-out not available).
NOTE: As of this card's last verification date, there is not currently an automated system to notify verifiers when their cards expire. Users must monitor their Weekly Insights emails for general verification upkeep.
What is the Weekly Insights Digest
The Weekly Insights Digest is an automated communication developed by Guru to share topical information in the knowledge base, keeping you engaged and informed about what's going on at our The New School.
The digest is sent each Monday from notify@getguru.com and is custom-built based on your role, open Tasks, and browsing history. An insights email will only send if there are at least three eligible cards to include in that week's digest.
Card Verifiers will also receive an abbreviated list of their current unverified cards in the Weekly Insights Digest.
Digest Recipient Criteria
Users receive a digest if they meet all of the following criteria:
- Subscribed to Guru's weekly email digest (i.e. have not opted out, described below)
- Has been a member of a Guru team for at least 1 week.
If the user does not meet this criterion, they will not receive an email digest that week.
Weekly Digest Contents
Guru's Weekly Insights Digest generally contains 3 sections.
- Your curated updates: this week's top priorities
- Updates were made to a Card you follow that you have not yet read.
- A new card from an Author you follow that you have not yet read.
- A card you are responsible for verifying that is popular and unverified.
- A card you verify that will expire in the next 7 calendar days.
- Cards just for you: your personalized recommendations
- Cards from the "Recommended for You" section of the Home page that you have not read.
- A new Featured card that was pinned within the last 2 weeks that you have not yet read.
- The week's most viewed cards that you have not yet read.
- Stay up-to-date: what you may have missed
- Reminders of unread Announcements.
If there are no eligible cards to display for a section, Guru will skip including the section in your digest that week. If none of the sections contain at least 3 cards, Guru will skip sending you a digest that week.
