- Dates
- You will see the survey’s due date as well as the last (auto)save time. The survey autosaves as you make changes.
- Directions
- Read the directions for unique details regarding your survey.
- Info About Feedback Items
- Click the “🛈” icon in blue to see the description for each tracking item and when to raise them.
- If your survey includes the “Personal/Social Concern” flag, please be sure to only raise it if you need Student Health Services or Student Support to follow up with the student.
- Comments
- Click the plus icon in blue plus to provide details about the feedback item(s).
- Why provide comments?
- You can inform the student’s support network with details beyond the general feedback item’s name.
- If the item’s name includes “Student Emailed” then you can directly inform the student of your feedback and their support network. Please be mindful of this when writing your feedback.
- Submit
- After you have selected your feedback items, you may click Submit. Please do not click on Submit until you are finished with reviewing your surveys for each course. Submitted surveys cannot be reopened.
NOTE: Please complete the survey for all courses. If you do not have any concerns for students in a particular course, please submit a blank survey. If you have any questions, please email SAS@newschool.edu.
Frequently Asked Questions
What if my concern is not one of the options presented?
You may raise referrals or concerns for students individually that are not limited to the items included in the survey.
To do so, log into Starfish and select the Students page. Select the checkbox next to a student's name and click the flag or referral button, and select from the options in the drop-down menu.
What if I want to add more details?
When you check off a box to raise a flag on a student, you will see a blue plus sign appear in the row. Click that to add comments for the selected item.
How do I save what I have entered?
All responses are automatically saved by the system after they are entered. You may navigate away or return the next day and your previously selected items will be preserved. However, you must click Submit to complete the survey.
I’ve already submitted the survey but I forgot to provide feedback for a student! What should I do?
Submitted surveys cannot be reopened. After submitting a survey, you may raise referrals, kudos, or concerns for students individually as you normally do throughout the semester.
To do so, log into Starfish and select the Students page. Select the checkbox next to the student's name and click the flag, kudo, or referral button, and select from the options in the drop-down menu.
What can I do if I forgot to complete the progress survey by the deadline?
Progress surveys cannot be submitted or altered after the submission deadline. If you have any students you might be concerned with, you may raise referrals or flags for students individually as you normally do throughout the semester.
To do so, log into Starfish and select the Students page. Select the checkbox next to the student's name and click the flag, kudo, or referral button, and select from the options in the drop-down menu.
