How to create a PlayPosit assignment in Canvas

Playposit can be set up as a graded or non-graded assignment within Canvas. Below are instructions for setting up a PlayPosit assignment within Canvas. Please review these instructions for information on setting up a non-graded assignment.

Setting up a Graded Assignment within Canvas:

1. Create a new Assignment in Canvas
1. Click “Assignments” in the left-hand navigation

• Click “+Assignment” in the upper right corner

2. Fill out the Canvas Assignment details
1. Name your assignment. It is recommended you use “PlayPosit” in the title or otherwise make it recognizable as an interactive video.

• Give your assignment a description, if needed.
• Set your assignment Points to whatever amount you’d like it to represent in Canvas. The PlayPosit LTI passes back a percentage to the Canvas Gradebook.

3. Connect the PlayPosit Bulb link to the Canvas Assignment
1. Set the Assignment Submission Type to be an External Tool.

• Click “Find” to configure the link.
• In the new window titled “Configure External Tool,” scroll down to find “PlayPosit ASUO/EdPlus” and click it. Don’t worry about the “Select” button, it will be clicked later.

• In the resulting window, click “Set Link” to enter the PlayPosit interface.

4. Option A: Choose an existing PlayPosit Bulb.
1. If you have a Bulb that already exists, locate it in the list under “My Bulbs.”

• On the far right side, under “Actions,” click the 3-dot “kebab” menu to reveal a menu.
• Note: You may need to resize the window using the tab in the bottom right corner.

• Click “Set Bulb Link”

4. Option B: Create a new Bulb

• To create a new Bulb, click the “Add New Bulb” button.

5. Complete the PlayPosit to Canvas connection
1. Select “Self Paced,” then click “Link”

• Finally, click “Select” in the configuration box from earlier.

• Confirm the details look correct, then click “Save & Publish” to publish the Canvas Assignment.

• When students complete the Assignment, grades will automatically export from PlayPosit into Canvas.
