Guru Help

A question mark may be found in the bottom-right of the platform, which opens the Resource Center. This tool largely provides resources for system administrators and those with advanced permissions. We recommend referring to the below FAQs for trouble-shooting and assistance.

I need help navigating the Guru platform.

  1. When you log into Guru for the first time, you should see an option to click through a Product Tour, which will walk through basic system functionality.
  2. We offer monthly New Guru User Training sessions for those who are new to Guru or looking to brush up their skills!
  3. The Knowledge Base Guide > Overview & Navigation folder contains overviews of key Guru features. Getting Started with Guru is a great place to start!
  4. And lastly, you may always contact Abbey Florence for 1:1 or group help with using Guru.

I have a question or issue regarding current information in Guru.

  1. A card's verification status can confirm the currency of information, as well as the content owner, last time the card was verified, and next scheduled date of verification.
  2. If you have a question about a specific card, we recommend you comment directly on the card to dialogue with the card's author and/or verifier.
  3. If you or someone you work with cannot open or view information in Guru, please fill out the Guru Request Form for assistance.

I can't find the information I am looking for in Guru.

  1. The search functionality allows you to filter cards by Collection and Tag, as well as preview the content. You can also enter a question into the bar (be sure to include the question mark!) to have Guru do the legwork for you - Guru will return an answer in natural language and provide the sources of the knowledge for further reading. We check these questions on a weekly basis to ensure you are receiving accurate responses and follow-up as needed.
  2. Tried the above but didn't get the answer you were looking for? You can assign your question over to a New School expert! Each department at the university has users assigned to answer questions related to their content. You can access Ask an Expert directly by clicking the your avatar top-right corner and selecting "Ask an Expert."
  3. You may also request new topics for Guru using the Guru Request Form.

I need help creating or editing content (Authors, Collection Owners, etc.).

  1. We offer individualized onboarding and regular training sessions for all Authors to collaborate, get updates, and receive help.
  2. The Knowledge Base Guide > Advanced Permissions boards also has step-by-step instructions for creating and maintaining content specific to the New School.
  3. Use the Guru Request Form to request new collections or groupings of information, as well as any permissions issues.
  4. From the Resource Center, the Guru Help Center has additional best practices, FAQs, and advice from Guru. Note that their instructions are largely intended for system administrators and may not accurately reflect how the New School uses the tool.
  5. Or contact Abbey Florence for 1:1 help!

When in doubt, you may always contact Abbey Florence, Sr. Business Analyst for Knowledge Management, at aflorence@newschool.edu for help.

You must have Author or Collection Owner permission to create Guru Cards. Contact your team's Guru admins to use this template.
